Have delivered 5 children, all at home except for #4, which was a scheduled section (there are some advantages to a scheduled birth, but none outweigh the joy of a homebirth, and the recovery is sooo much better with vag deliveries!!)

As an encouragement for you for next time, I had baby #5 at home, my VBAC, 3 1/2 weeks "late" by a typical schedule (in God's perfect timing, as far as we were concerned!), birth wt for all my homebirths was 9#9oz, 9#14 oz, 11#7 oz, and my "late" VBAC homebirth was 11#14 oz. Not easy. Used a tub. No stitches needed.

Friends have also had sections for their 1st and even 2nd babies, (for 6# babies), because the moms was "too small" to deliver vaginally, their MDs told them. Later, these awesome women homebirthed 8# & 9# babies!!! Healthy, rewarding, VBACS!

Fear not.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1768135582694656261.post-82483219824302894752009-06-11T19:59:31.869-07:002009-06-11T19:59:31.869-07:00Hi Coralissa,
I saw your post on the Diva Mamas bo...Hi Coralissa,
I saw your post on the Diva Mamas board and just read your story.
I had a very similar experience. April was my midwife and I labored at home for almost 50 hours before transporting to Summerlin Hospital where I had to have an emergency c-section. My son had the cord wrapped around his neck twice, was facing the wrong direction and I had a major uterine infection. C-section was the best thing for me and baby and now he is a healthy beautiful 3 month old. I loved my home birth experience and don't regret it for one moment. April, Sherry, Kim (April's asst), Marcie (my doula) my husband and friend were angels during the entire time. And I hope to have a VBAC the 2nd time around if it's in the cards for me.
It's really helpful to hear your story because I've been grieving my birth not working out like I thought it would and have been healing for months now. Thank you for having the courage to share it with such honesty. I have felt rather alone in my experience and although I wouldn't wish this on anyone, it's helpful to read about you having such a similar experience.
I think I met you once at It's Yoga LV. Did you used to work for Stomp? Anyway, thanks again.
:)
Carrie
flowergirl1111@mac.comflowergirl1111https://www.blogger.com/profile/13148412523567130643noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1768135582694656261.post-9683944270541225322009-06-05T10:49:52.708-07:002009-06-05T10:49:52.708-07:00Congratulations!! I have been following your updates on Facebook obsessively and thinking about and praying for you guys constantly. What a relief to know that you guys are OK, and home again. Coralissa, you are amazing. I am in awe of your strength and I know that you and Ivan did everything right. Even if the outcome was different than what you had originally envisioned, you absolutely made the right choice to have the c-section when you did. It breaks my heart to read about you sobbing by his bed when you were separated from Nainoa, but that is all for the best too. He has a clean bill of health now and you're a great mom and you guys will catch up with the bonding and breastfeeding. What a lucky baby to have such a mom as you! I am so excited and happy for you guys that now you can just be home and enjoy each other and be in all that brand-new-baby-deliciousness. I hope you're healing fast and well, and I look forward to hearing more soon. Nainoa is so beautiful. Be well!
