Stomping around

Has it been two months since my last post??  Yikes!  Where have I been?  Well I finished my straight A semester on May 16th, Nainoa turned 3 on May 20th (pictures to come), then I started my 40 hour a week internship at a skilled nursing facility on May 21st.   I have been experiencing what it is like to work a from 6:30 am-3:00 pm everyday, Monday - Friday.  I still try and teach my Pilates clients a few times a week plus hula so my time with Nainoa and Eye are very limited.  Weekends are golden to me.  So I again have no time to catch up!

I wanted to post this video of 9oa doing Stomp.  I did not prompt him to find the pot covers.  He did this on his own and I just coaxed him a little because as you know, they always stop doing the best stuff when the camera comes out.  In about 15 years he can audition for the show :)

Disneyland!

We spent 12 hours at Disneyland last Wednesday. Yes you heard me 12 hours! I swore last time we would get a hotel room. Let me just say if you are going to go to Disneyland you NEED a hotel room so the kiddos and the parents can get some chill time. Thank goodness Nainoa fell asleep and took a nap. But I wished we had a hotel room so we could take a nap too. But in the end we all had a great time.

Who's happy?

Unexpected hair cut

I came home from a long day at school to find out that Nainoa had his first hair cut. Without me. Lolo decided that it was okay to just "trim" Nainoa's bangs. As you can see in the photo above that is not just a ''trim." I have never ever cut his hair. He has gone almost 3 years without a hair cut. I wasn't planning onto until the time was right. I had it all planned out. We would go to my sister's salon in L.A. , I would take a video, take some photos, make a little movie and document the whole thing. It has taken me about 2 days to get over this hair cut incidence. I know Lolo just meant well. Lately Nainoa has been obsessed with this cartoon, Sinbad the Sailor.

Somewhere in the movie someone says, "get a haircut." Of course Nainoa has been saying "get a haircut" or "I want a haircut" or "cut my hair mommy." In no way did I think I would come home to see my son's bangs trimmed like Betty Boop.

The worst part of the whole thing is that Lolo didn't even save the hair. Lola started to dig in the trash to try and find it. That just made it worse. I was so angry that I filled up with tears and cried silently. I'm sure Lolo didn't even think about it. I mean it's probably just a mom thing to do anyway. Sigh. It's just I felt that the "first haircut" thing was taken away from me. It was an important event that I wanted to be a part of. There are so many benefits of my parents living with us, the list goes on and on. I could not have been able to go school. Eye could not be on the road right now if it wasn't for my parents. I know how lucky I am. But sometimes a mom has just got to vent. Right? Thanks for listening. I think I am truly over it now. Thank goodness Nainoa is so damn cute.

Fun days at school.

It's been hard to post because of school. There isn't much time for anything these days. I do want to leave you with this. Not to brag, but I am one of the best the class when it comes to deep tendon reflexes. I attribute my technique to all that drumming in Stomp.

More Nainoa updates after this hell week.

I'm Sean.

I took Nainoa on a date last Monday and we saw The Secret World of Arrietty. Now he calls himself Sean, the lead boy character and of course I am Arrietty. I love pretend play.

Left leg.

A few weeks ago Eye and I went to a seminar with author Michael Thompson who wrote Raising Cain: Protecting the Emotional Life of Boys. This is book is also a documentary which I highly suggest especially to my mammas who have boys. One thing Michael said that I will never forget is that self-esteem comes from skill. The more skills one attains the more self-esteem they will have.

It's all about the left leg and building that self-esteem.
