Happy Thanksgiving!

We had such a great time last night. My whole family was there plus two great girlfriends Jen and Elaine. I felt so lucky to have everyone at the table eating, laughing, enjoying each other's company. So much aloha filled the room. The food was soooo ono and I think I am still full from all the food! Nainoa definitely joined in the ceremonies by having his own sweet potatoes. As you can see in the photo below, it went everywhere but his mouth. (He woke up this morning with the same sweet potato on his forhead...woops.)

We had to quickly take our family photo before Nainoa went to bed. Jen and Elaine were in charge of taking the photo and getting Nainoa to look towards the camera. Eye had to take a picture of them because they were cracking us up!

I love my family and friends. I am so thankful.

Sending you all our aloha!

Trickery in the Chicco

Ivan put together our high chair given by Grandma Pat. Baby was having such a good time playing in it! Then Nainoa started to chew the edge of the tray so I put some sweet potatoes right were he was gnawing and he seemed to like eating. He kept on going back for seconds so I kept putting more sweet potatoes on the edge of the tray. Whatever works!

Weighing in at...

Today Ivan and Lola took Nainoa to the pediatrician while I taught Pilates all day. He weighed in at 22.2 pounds and is over the 95th percentile. Even though the nurse measured him at 28 inches long Ivan thinks he is more like 27 ish since his head wasn't touching head ruler. Our pediatrician said to keep trying to feed him solids everyday. I tried the sweet potato again and after four small baby teaspoons he started FUSSING. I've been reading Super Baby Food and it suggests to make feeding fun and not to show disappointment when Nainoa doesn't like eating. I smiled, cheered, sang yumm yumm songs and seriously did a song and dance but it didn't help. I have one more day of feeding him sweet potatoes and then I am going to move on to bananas or avocados. Maybe he'll like that better. My BFF said it takes about 7 to 13 times before he'll starts liking it. I have 9 more tries to go.

I took this picture while Ivan was trying to read the paper with Nainoa on his lap. Naiona kept taking the paper and shredding it like we do in the Stomp number "Papers." He LOVED the sound it made while he ripped the papers in half or when he banged the papers together. SO CUTE!

Mmmm not so much.

This past Saturday we tried sweet potatoes. When I gave him his first small teaspoon of it he smushed it around his mouth. I thought, "Oh this is going to be easy he likes it!" Even his second bite he kinda liked. Then the back arching started as well as the turning of the head. There was no third teaspoon because he was totally wasn't into it. Then this morning I tried again, and he took in a small tiny teaspoon of sweet potatoes. As you can see by this photo Nainoa was NOT feeling it at all. I'll keep trying though, maybe he'll like pears, or apples or even avocados. Keep you posted on his taste buds.

6 months!

Nainoa is 6 months today! It really does go by fast. He is getting cuter and cuter by the day. The more aware and reactive he is to the world the more I fall in love. It is getting harder to leave him. I had two 8 hour days with out him and I was just devastated! Anyways, he is growing up fast. Nainoa is sitting up a lot better now. I can tell his abs and back are getting stronger. He still topples over when sitting up but it's getting less and less. He likes to grab at his feet. He's loves the happy baby pose now. He LOVES to stand. He squirms a lot when getting his diaper change. I bought him a piano like his cousin Marley. (Check out Marley's skills) Nainoa likes to switch the sheet music back and forth more than he likes to play. I can't believe how he's growing into such a little boy! His hair is growing in but he still has a band of baldness around his head. Nainoa LOVES to talk. He does this low grunt that is just hilarious. Oh and we are going to start solids this weekend. We are going to start off with sweet potatoes like his girlfriend Pema.
Here is Nainoa's first monologue that I translated for your enjoyment.

Men Slining It

I never thought Gavin Rossdale was sexy but for some reason this photo of him wearing Zuma in a P-Sling makes him so HOT! (You know Gwen Stefani dressed her baby boy in his funky outfit with cool kicks)

Gavin is cute and all but no one is hotter than my honey!

Aloha Heinys

I am loving my aloha print Happy Heinys that I bought from Jackie over at the Well Rounded Momma Boutique!!! I think I like the way they fit on Nainoa better than the bumgenius. I love that the elastic band on the Happy Heinys can fit over his big belly.
I gagged when I saw the blue hibiscus flowers.

This aloha print is perfect for when we go to Hawaii in December!

25 Weeks

Nainoa is 25 weeks this week. He's been blowing bubbles and spraying everyone in sight. I am training two days a week to teach Barre Technique so Daddy, Lola and Lolo have been watching Nainoa. The 8 hours are hard but Eye brings the baby at lunch time so that I can feed him and also see him. I miss him so much when I'm away! The video is dark but the audio is awesome.

Revisiting with less disappointment

One of my favorite blogs, Marvelous Kiddo, of whom I get a lot of inspiration, posted my birth story as her birth story of the week. When Leigh (amazing blogger, mother of two, artist, unschooler, just an awesome woman) asked me if it was okay to share my story I was thrilled. The more I share my story, the more the disappointment of not having my perfect home birth dissolves. When I was re-reading my story, tears welled up in my eyes again and my heart felt heavy but it felt different. Before I would seriously cry when I would read my birth story but now that it has been almost 6 months since Nainoa was born, I feel like I have let go of a lot. Sharing my story gives me the confidence that I will one day try a WVBAC (Water Vaginal Birth After Cesarian). Until then I will enjoy my amazing three generational family home and be thankful that Naiona is here giving all of us joy and laughter everyday.

The best phone call

I have been sitting in front of my empty post page trying to figure out what I wanted to blog about. There's is no new Nainoa stories I want to share. The only thing I keep thinking about is the awesome message I got from a girlfriend that went through my BASI pilates certification. She is 35 weeks pregnant! I am so excited that she is about to meet her baby soon. I seriously got all giddy, had goose bumps and welled up with tears. I just remembered what it felt like that last month before you finally meet whoever is in your belly. The exhaustion, the peeing, the anticipation, the sleepless nights, the peeing, the nesting etc. I didn't get a chance to talk to my friend so I have all these questions in my mind! I love pregnant women . I just love talking about being pregnant and being a first time mommy. This is another moment in my life that I wished I moved back to L.A. This will be my 6th L.A. girlfriend who has given birth this year. Nainoa already has 6 playmates who will be turning one in the same year! All the more reason to strive to make that happen in the next couple of years. Anyways this post isn't about me. CONGRATULATIONS MY FRIEND I AM SO EXCITED FOR YOU!!!!!!!

24 Weeks

Nainoa had a huge growth development in the last two week. He rolled over front to back then a few days later he rolled over from back to front. When we were in San Fran he started sitting up by himself and playing with his toys. We put a boppy to cushion his fall when he fell back. His balance when sitting up is getting so much better. His hand eye coordination is on point and he's starting to use his index finger when grabbing for thing. He is trying to talk a lot, especially when he's playing with his toys or observing the dogs. He does, "mmmmbrwwah" or "uuuummmmmmaaaah" or just "ooooooooooowwwaaaa." Nainoa is making spitty bubbley noises with his mouth and spraying everyone while he's doing it. I think it feels good on his gums because he is teething. When I walk in to the room and he recognizes me and smiles it just melts my heart. That recognition and greeting is just the best. I love being a mommy!

Left My Heart In San Francisco

We had such a great time in San Francisco. It was a needed vacation for me. It was so nice to hang out with Mish, Kaiyaiyai and Eddie. Halloween was such a blast! Mish had a party at her house with all of Kaiyaiyai's two year old buddies. It was so cool to see the boys interact. I kept on staring at them saying to myself, "I can't believe Nainoa is going to be that old and playing with other little buddies." Then I got sad when I thought of who Naiona would be playing with? Kai is in SF and all of his band mates are in different states. Mish reassured me that I would find someone for Nainoa... but it's just not the same. Sigh...anyways here some of my fav photos of the weekend. I love you Mish and I miss you so much already!
