Gong Hey Fat Choy!

Chinese New Year, Freemont St

I survived the first week of school. I have a lot of reading and papers this semester. Yuck. I haven't had to write a paper since 199_? I am so thankful to have my parents here to help me as well as my awesome husband. Nainoa is going to school two Monday and Wednesday from 9:00-4:30. He really enjoys it now. There are some days he says he doesn't want to go but he ends up wanting to stay longer at the end of the day! Progress.

I feel like the is no end in sight when it comes to potty training. Nainoa has ZERO interest in going to the potty. I try to bribe or to make it fun and he still won't go. Ugh. I am at a loss. Everyone says don't rush, he'll do it when he's ready. WHEN IS THAT? If I remember correctly Tutu said Eye wasn't potty trained until he was four? Maybe it's genetic.

Since Eye is gone next week I wanted to have a family outing before he left. I am always so busy with school. I have to make it a point to have some sort of family outing once a week. Since is was the Chinese New Year there is a ton of fun things to do here in Vegas. Tonight we went to Freemont Street to watch the lion dancers and dragon dancers. Nainoa loved it. In the car on the way home he said, "Mommy I want to do the lion dance. Will you come and lion dance with me?"

Staycation

Nainoa's favorite exhibit at the Natural History Museum

We decided to have a staycation this week. I have really enjoyed my week with Nainoa. I feel like we have spent a lot of quality time together as a family. This week we went to the Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay Natural History Museum, Aliante Discovery Park and had a play date with his friend Sofia. Next week we are probably going to go into shock with the school schedule. I have school 5 days a week and Nainoa has 2 full days a week. Sigh. I'm not ready to go back. I'm already planning our spring break in March. Disneyland!!!

Cough, cough and Toy Story 3

Balloons always make you feel better.

Nainoa has been sick for the last week and half. Low grade fever, runny runny runny nose and a wet cough. I really try and not take on my mother's hypochondriac tendencies. Sometimes it's hard when she is asking, "You should take him to the doctor. Don't you think he should see someone about his cough?" I got great natural, homeopathic advice from many friends and thankfully Nainoa is on the mend. He still has a little cough and a snotty nose but it's not as bad as it was. He felt well enough to go to Toy Story 3 on ice today. We had such a great time! It was such a fun show. I recommend it to you parents out there. Can I just say how much of a racket Disney is running? I mean seriously, Woody snow cones for 10 dollars? Popcorn in a Mickey Mouse bucket 10 dollars?? I am proud to say we walked away without purchasing any garb.

My six week school break has flown by! It is my last week before school starts. I am taking a week off of work to spend some quality time with the family. Hopefully I will get a few more posts in before I get overwhelmed with school again.

Catching Up

Yes, I know, I know, I KNOW! I have been totally slacking. In lieu of the lack of posts I decided to make a 5 minute video of what we've been doing these past months. Hope you enjoy.
