Stomp Family

Nainoa is loving his new Stomp family. The weekend of his birthday they all came over for ice cream cake. They showered him with presents and love. It was great. I felt like he had a real party. Every time I take him to see the show, he names everyone he sees on stage. If some one in the cast is not in he'll ask where they are. So smart! We are having a great time here. I feel really lucky.

Happy 1st Birthday Skender!

Another beautiful boy turned one last weekend. Skender Laybourne, son of Prototokyo leader and creator of the Love Regime, Sam Laybourne and wife Herran. Skender is such a beautiful, mellow, scrumptious baby who I wished Nainoa could play with more. I dream of Skender, Marley, Pema, Dru and River running around the beaches of L.A. in the "Born in '09 Crew."

We celebrated Skender's birthday at the Annenberg Community Beach House. We got there at 11 am and left at 5pm. We had such the perfect day filled with my Proto family. We laughed in the sun, played in the pool and even had yummy sandwiches from Bay City Italian Deli. It was such a perfect day. Ivan kept saying, "Can we PLEASE move back now?" Yes honey....one day.

The Band and their Boys

One day about 18 months ago Eye went to a Dan Band rehearsal in L.A. One by one all the band members outed that their wives were pregnant. Einar (not shown here) plays bass and his boy is 7 months older than all the other boys. All the boys in the band had boys of their own all at the same time. They were all born in May and June. It was so nice to finally get all the boys together. Reason 2,384 to move back to L.A. one day.

Drummer, Keys, and Guitar
Ivan & Nainoa, Byron & Wilder, Marc & River

River, Nainoa and Wilder
(look how big Nainoa is compared to the other boys)

Happy 1st River!

We were watching River devour his cupcake. All of a sudden Nainoa grabbed at his cupcake and the rest was history. Nainoa didn't even get real cake at his birthday! Oh well, one day isn't going to hurt. Needless to say Nainoa loved having his special treat.

Nainoa's Baby Luau

Song by Amy Hanaial'i Gillon

Love surrounds my body

Your smile comes with the tears

Proud in the sky blown mist

Dampening your cheeks

The fitful movement of the light

Near the three hau trees

Royal child, great child, small child

The home of the sea faring chiefs

Answer my royal one, rose of Maui

Strung with love

Bound in memory

For us to fulfill

Mahalo to all of you near and far for supporting us through this year

Hau'oli La Hanau!

Nainoa is one year old today! I can't believe it. One year ago I had my almost home-birth turned C-section. My NICU baby who was 7 pounds 13 ounces, 21 inches long is now 25 pounds 30 1/4 inches long. Sigh...I swear it seems as if I blinked and woke up one year later.

We are off to L.A. today with Tutu in tow to celebrate Nainoa's birthday this Saturday. It is going to be a huge reunion for family and friends. I am so excited and overwhelmed to see everyone.

Happy Birthday Nainoa. You are the best thing that ever has happened to me. I cannot imagine life with you. You have my heart and you fill me with aloha every single day.

Reflecting on Haukea

Today is Haukea's 4th birthday and it's the first birthday I didn't throw her a party. My friend Jen said last year, "Once the baby comes no more doggie parties." She was so right! We did take her to the park today and she also got a special chicken and rice birthday dinner from Lola. I keep trying to remember what I was doing days before Nainoa was born. One year ago today I had a pool party for Haukea. I invited all her doggy friends and had a doggy birthday cake. Loooook at my huuuuuge belly!!

Happy Birthday Lolo!

Last night we celebrated Lolo's 79th birthday. My brother (who's recovery is fantastic) and Pam drove down from L.A. and we had a nice time at dinner. I felt incomplete a bit without Dadda and Auntie Gloria. I am so thankful for Lolo. He is so in love with Nainoa and he takes such good care of him when Eye and I are out. I could not do what I do without him.

Thank you Lolo for all your love and showing me that there are good men in this world. I love you so much.

Doesn't my brother look great?

Look at Nainoa's two teeth! One more is cutting on the bottom.
He's also reading the cocktail menu.

Hmmm Martini straight up or Pinot?

Perfect birthday

On my birthday I woke up to this morning smile.

Then my sis and I headed Griffith Park for a picnic.

She brought me my favorite food from Portos.

Nainoa had his first swing experience with Marls.

It was a perfect California day with my son, my sis and my friends.

Hau'oli La Hanau Tutu!!

Just wanted to send some aloha to Nainoa's Tutu Charlotte on her birthday today! I can't believe how much he is grown since she last saw him right after he was born. Eye is doing Stomp in Hawaii over Christmas and New Years and we are both going to join him. We can't wait for him to see Tutu again and meet his other ohana. Hau'oli la Hanau Tutu! We love you and we can't wait to see you on Christmas Day!

Nainoa loves his bumbo seat.
