Weighing in at...

Nainoa weighed in 24.5 pounds, off the percentile chart in weight. He is 28 3/4 long, 70% in height. Doctor says he looks great. His iron was low and we have to get a lab test done. Blech I hate that. There is a recipe in the book, Super Baby Food, that I need to make called Super Porridge. It is basically homemade cereal that consists of whole grains and beans. That will boost his iron for sure. Anybody have any good home made recipes that consists of lots of Iron?

Gettin' his move on

Gone are the days when I could leave Nainoa on the bed and have him be in the same position when I return. He is getting his move on for sure! His favorite thing is to spin his self around. He uses his big belly as the base and moves 360 degrees. He can almost crawl and likes to lift his but in the air to a modified downward dog. Nainoa gets soooo excited when he scooches foward. He lets out a big yelp as if he's saying, "Mommy look at me go!"

He is 22.5 pounds, 27.5 inches long and still above the 95% percentile. I think he is getting the hang of this whole eating thing. So far Nainoa has had rice cereal, avocado, pears, applesauce, peas, bananas and sweet potatoes. He eats 3 times a day. Dr. Moore said that I can start giving him diluted apple juice after each meal to help him soften his doodoo. (tmi?)

I am getting very excited for Hawaii. Eye is there now doing press. All of our clothes are there waiting for us to arrive on Christmas day. I am so glad that we are going at the age Nainoa is now. He is so much fun to be around. He's always so happy and cheerful. I can't wait for him to hang out with his ohana!

Started out in this position

Somehow he ended up here trying to downward dog!

Weighing in at...

Today Ivan and Lola took Nainoa to the pediatrician while I taught Pilates all day. He weighed in at 22.2 pounds and is over the 95th percentile. Even though the nurse measured him at 28 inches long Ivan thinks he is more like 27 ish since his head wasn't touching head ruler. Our pediatrician said to keep trying to feed him solids everyday. I tried the sweet potato again and after four small baby teaspoons he started FUSSING. I've been reading Super Baby Food and it suggests to make feeding fun and not to show disappointment when Nainoa doesn't like eating. I smiled, cheered, sang yumm yumm songs and seriously did a song and dance but it didn't help. I have one more day of feeding him sweet potatoes and then I am going to move on to bananas or avocados. Maybe he'll like that better. My BFF said it takes about 7 to 13 times before he'll starts liking it. I have 9 more tries to go.

I took this picture while Ivan was trying to read the paper with Nainoa on his lap. Naiona kept taking the paper and shredding it like we do in the Stomp number "Papers." He LOVED the sound it made while he ripped the papers in half or when he banged the papers together. SO CUTE!

Weighing in at...

Nainoa weighs 20 lbs 14 ounces and he is 26 inches long. He is off his charts as far as his percentile for weight. Doc. Moore said he is looking good, he's exactly where he should be as far as development goes. He told me not to worry about him rolling over or anything. His daughter didn't roll over until 6 months. Nainoa can roll to his side but he can't roll over his huuuge belly. All the nurses asked, "Daaaaamn Momma what are you feeding him???" When I replied, "Just booby milk." They asked, "Well what are YOU eating??" HA! Baby is definitely teething. He's total drool-o-rama. Sometimes he gags because there is so much drool in his mouth. He loves to practice standing. He can sit up by himself for a nano second and then he topples over because he is just so top heavy. He can be on his belly a lot more and he likes to scooch. When he is on his tummy I put pressure on his feet, he pushes with his strong legs and moves a few inches forward. Nainoa has some LEEEGGGS. They are so thick! Definitely got that from Mommy. He got his Prevnar and Hib shot today. He cried after but only for like a minute. Today I'm going to be away from him all day today. (a little anxious...gulp) Lolo and Lola are out of town which means Daddy gets him all day!

Weighing in at....

Nainoa had his 4 month Dr. visit today and he weighed in at 18 lbs. 14 oz!!! Just two ounces shy of 19 pounds. He is 25 1/2 inches long. Dr. Moore said he looks really gooood and said, "Wow! He's uuuuuge!" (He doesn't pronounce his H's like my friend Elo) Doc also said I could start him on solids if I wanted but I just don't think I am ready. Nainoa got his 2nd DTAP shot and didn't cry, just a small whimper. Man.......my arms will hopefully look like Rocky's just by picking up my son! Who needs to lift weights when I have my Big Buddah boy???

3 months!

Nainoa is three months old today! Today he is weighing at 16 lbs. 10 oz. He is the 95 percentile for weight. He is 24 inches long. He has been cooing and laughing a lot more. He has found his thumbs and has been soothing himself to sleep. He's sleeping for about 7 hour so far with one feeding in between. Our pediatrician says that the night feeding should last another month or so and then he'll start sleeping through the night. He got his 3rd shot today, HIB and Prevnar. He definitely CRIED today. He was MAAAAAD! Ugh, I hate to hear him cry like that. I couldn't look again. I am feeling better about our version of the alternative Dr. Sears vaccination schedule. Spacing it out is definitely the way to go for me. Although I would like to be that non-vaccinating parent, I know that traveling is going to a part of our lives and it just makes me feel a better to know he has some vaccinations. Unfortunately Nainoa has caught a little bit of a cold. He has had a snotty nose just in the mornings, but Dr. said that I shouldn't worry and that it should go away within the next few days. He made me feel good saying that when I am fighting off a cold the antibodies that I make are passed through my milk and on to Nainoa. I LOVE that! I love that I am making anti-bodies for my son and I am building up his immune system. BREAST IS BEST!

Pediasure Boobies

Yesterday we took Nainoa for his one month check-up. He already weighs 11lbs 13oz. Almost 12 pounds and he's only 5 weeks old! The nurse and the doctor were so amazed that he's gained so much weight by just my breast. They usually like to see babies double their weight by 3 months and Nainoa is 2 pounds shy of doubling his weight at 5 weeks! He is in the 90 percentile for his weight and 50 percentile for his head. (The percentile chart is based on bottle fed babies so he was extra impressed) We had to have the Dr. explain that to us because we really didn't understand what that meant. Dr. Moore said he was very healthy boy and to keep up the good work breast feeding. He also said I was making Pediasure in my breast which made us laugh. HA!! As I am blogging I am pumping my right breast and I have pumped 6oz. Six ounces off of one side! I am sooooo amazed on the female body and how it produces nourishment for it's offspring. I mean it really amazes me. Making so much milk does have it's set back though. Well it's not a big deal, but I have such a forceable let down that Nainoa spits up a lot sometimes chokes because he is getting so much milk, so fast. I've been trying different techniques that I got off of KellyMom. (Love that website.) It seems to be helping.

Eye leaves tomorrow for his east coast tour with The Dan Band. It will be his first time away from baby. I am so thankful I have my parents here!
