Playing with Uncle

We spent a very short 2 days in L.A. last weekend. Saturday we drove up and spent the night at my brother's house. Mel can walk with out any assistance! I held back my tears watching him walk up the stairs with out his walker. I watched him go from the floor to his chair all by himself. Then he dragged his chair all the way from the kitchen to his bedroom. AMAZING! He is really independent and is a total fighter. (Runs in the family.) I am hoping and praying that he can gain all of his mobility back. I loved watching Nainoa play ball with Mel. It was so cute to watch them roll around the floor and toss the ball back and forth. I can't wait to get back to L.A in a couple of weeks to see how much more my brother has improved!

Happy Birthday Dan!

Last night Eye and I went out to celebrate Dan's 40th birthday. First of all it was SO nice to actually get dressed, put on make up and do my hair. Second, it was so nice to actually spend time out of the house with Eye. Since he's been on the road my Friday night usually consists of going to Target, Trader Joe's or something real exciting like spending way to much time on Facebook. Dan's small gatherings are usually a star studded event and I usually don't get star strucked because I grew up in L.A. and I am used to seeing celebrities. I don't know if it's because I live in Vegas and I pretty much DON'T go out but last night I TOTALLY got star strucked with Rikki Lake. I mean her movie, "Business of Being Born" inspired me to try a home birth. So I tell Dan, "DUDE you HAVE to reintroduce me to Rikki." I am like freaking out. THEN it happens I sit across from her at dinner and SHE starts a conversation with ME and says, "Coralissa, (didn't even know she knew my name) Dan's been showing me pictures of your baby he's so cute." OMG (Dan your awesome) I am totally floored! I ended up thanking her for her work on educating women on different birthing choices and how her website My Best Birth totally helped me through pregnancy and my C-section. Rikki was so welcoming, nurturing and so so nice when I talked about my birth story. THEN we ended up talking about Barre and she told me she was totally addicted and takes it in L.A.! She was definitely the highlight of my night. Happy Birthday Dan. Thanks for being born yesterday so I can have a night out with my husband and meet one of my idols.

If you haven't seen Dan's show then you might night understand this birthday video I made him. I promise you I won't encourage my son to curse.

Miracles & Inspirations

The day after we got back from Hawaii we drove down to L.A. to see my brother. The progress that he has made is truly amazing. He can walk with a walker and his speech is totally clear. His determination and strength is totally inspirational to me. One the best parts of our weekend besides helping him do his physical therapy was watching him interact with Nainoa.

On Sunday Eye watched the baby while my whole family went to the park.

I am so lucky to have my family.

Breastfeeding like Baby Jesus

My friend Leigh, of Marvelous Kiddo posted this amazing post about Breastfeeding the Baby Jesus. The original post came from Peaceful Parenting. I LOVED all the images of the Virgin Mary breastfeeding Christ the Child. After I watched this video it inspired me to take my own photo of Nainoa and I under the our Christmas tree.

Today I had a great day with my sister, Lolo and Naiona. I missed my Mom and my brother a lot. Tomorrow Nainoa and I will be traveling to Hawaii. I am a little nervous about the 6 hour flight with out Eye. Hopefully I will get a row all to myself. Safe travels to all those traveling tomorrow including myself!
