The Mission
Today we had a great day walking around the mission. Oh..and walking with a 21 lb. baby up and down these SF hills is NO joke. I was so happy Mish brought the stroller. Nainoa is heavy in the Ergo! Daddy carried him most of the way. We walked through the Mission and went to Natural Resources so that I can buy Nainoa a Sophie. (Thanks Rock for the recommendation)
I LOVE the Mission. The mural art is just amazing.
I was so blown away by this amazing mural of this woman breast feeding on the side of the women's center building. The whole mural was massive. I wish I could have gotten it all.
It wasn't too hot, just right. We watched Mish and Kaiyayai play in the park as we sat and the shade and enjoyed the greenery. Eye needed his Bi-Rite Creamery fix so we stopped there and had Pumpkin Ice Cream. What a great day!

Slinging It in San Fran
Nainoa made it through his first plane ride with flying colors! I wore him in the Ergo when we arrived at the airport. We went through security with no problem. He was totally chill waiting at the gate. As soon as we got in our seats he started to fuss, then he started to scream! Oh no we are that couple on the plane with a screaming baby! After about 5 minutes of screaming I offered him the boob and he went straight to sleep. My BFF said to nurse on the way up and the way down and it worked like a charm! Phheewww. Mish picked us up and we ate at Savor. (yummmy cornbread with jalapeno jelly). We both napped when we got to the house and then we spent the day playing in Kaiyayai's room with some nice fuzzy toys! I soooo needed this!

Actually...it's 23 Weeks
outfit given by Auntie Simmi
So Nainoa is actually 23 weeks this week. I counted it like 5 times and I he is definitely 23 weeks this today. Birdie I'm sure you will double check for me :) We are all going on airplane for the first time tomorrow to visit Mish, Kaiyayai and Eddie. After last weekend I neeeed a vacation. (We spent last weekend cleaning our L.A house that we are renting) This is my test run before our big flight to Hawaii on Christmas day. Mish says just to breast feed on the way up and down and we'll be fine. I can't wait to spend our first Halloween with my BFF and our sons! Nainoa is going to be a turtle and a dalmation since I couldn't decide what costume to get him. This week Nainoa has been sitting up by himself for 3 seconds. He's looking to where sound comes from and I think he knows his name?? I love him more and more every second of the day. I never knew how much you can love one person.

Weighing in at...
Nainoa weighs 20 lbs 14 ounces and he is 26 inches long. He is off his charts as far as his percentile for weight. Doc. Moore said he is looking good, he's exactly where he should be as far as development goes. He told me not to worry about him rolling over or anything. His daughter didn't roll over until 6 months. Nainoa can roll to his side but he can't roll over his huuuge belly. All the nurses asked, "Daaaaamn Momma what are you feeding him???" When I replied, "Just booby milk." They asked, "Well what are YOU eating??" HA! Baby is definitely teething. He's total drool-o-rama. Sometimes he gags because there is so much drool in his mouth. He loves to practice standing. He can sit up by himself for a nano second and then he topples over because he is just so top heavy. He can be on his belly a lot more and he likes to scooch. When he is on his tummy I put pressure on his feet, he pushes with his strong legs and moves a few inches forward. Nainoa has some LEEEGGGS. They are so thick! Definitely got that from Mommy. He got his Prevnar and Hib shot today. He cried after but only for like a minute. Today I'm going to be away from him all day today. (a little anxious...gulp) Lolo and Lola are out of town which means Daddy gets him all day!

5 months!
Nainoa is 5 months old today! Check out his cute L.A.M.B baby shoes given by The Boves. He's also sporting a drummer shirt given by Auntie gLo. Today we went to see Lolo's family who's in town from the L.A. and the Philippines. Everyone said, "He looks like Juuniorrrrr! (a.k.a Lolo)," then they said, "Oooooh ahhhnd he looks like Lissa!", then they said, "What peatures does he hab of Iban?" Awww Iban! After we came home from such an overwhelming visit we decided that since he had his drum set shirt we should practice our paradiddles! Happy 5 months baby! Para-diddle...para-diddle..para-diddle...para-diddle

Girl Power!
So the last two Saturday nights I have spent it with my girls, Jen & Elaine. Last weekend we saw Whip It, a coming of age, woman empowerment movie staring Ellen Paige. Drew Barrymore's directorial debut.
I LOVE Drew. Ever since E.T. I have loved her. I loved her through out her drug problems, throughout her bad movies and good movies. She's a fellow Piscean who's life journey is pretty inspiring. Last night I went to check out the Sin City Roller Girls with my girls and
we had a blast! I fantasized on what my roller name would be and if I would be a Jammer or a Blocker. Needless to say it was a great game and the Notorious VIP's won.
I am girl's girl. I love my girlfriends and I feel inspired and empowered by all the women in my life. Thank you to all my girls out there. I love you all so much and I wish we all lived in the same city. If you haven't seen Whip It go!

18 Weeks & Spring Reserve
Nainoa is 18 weeks. Today we went to the Spring Reserve and walked around with our friends LisaM and baby Ethan. I met another mommy friend Christina and baby Sophia. (Birdie I missed you and baby M today!) We had lunch at Wolfgang Puck cafe that over looks the strip. Very yummy. It was 93 degrees and hot! We strolled around after lunch through the desert garden and looked at different recycled themed installations. I had Nainoa in the sling the whole time because he wasn't feeling his stroller. He loves the kangaroo position because he likes to look at the world. Man my legs and right shoulder are SORE from carrying him around! I definitely should have brought the Ergo or Moby. It feels good to take him out of the house by myself, makes me feel like an independent women. I love the little outings with just me and my son. What a great day!

Bumgenius
We took the plunge! I went to a cloth diapering class at my favorite place, Well Rounded Mamma. The class was led by Jackie Gorgiou who is a doula, lactation specialist, hypnobirthing educator, owner of the Well Rounded Mamma boutique AND she is 36 weeks pregnant! Jackie was awesome. She shared her journey to cloth diapering which I totally related too. She answered all of my questions and she made it seem so easy and doable. The next day I went back to WRM and bought six Bumgenius 3.0 one size diapers to start off. Jackie was so helpful. I was so excited to get home and wash my new cloth diapers. It has been almost a week and I must say the transition has been really easy. I still use Earth's Best diapers when I'm washing and drying the cloth diapers. As soon as the new colors come into WRM I am going to buy six more cloth diapers. I might even try Happy Heinys since they have great bold colors and really cute prints. Who says doo doo diapers can't be fashionable? :)

My Boys
This past weekend we had a lovely visit from my dear friends Quincy and Deondray. I have known Dee since high school. They are co-producing the LoveBScott show and they came to Vegas to do interview Mariah Carey. They also are the creators of the critically a claimed series The DL Chronicles. I am so so proud of them and all their achievements over the years. Let me keep bragging about them and say that Nainoa is sporting a Yoga Babies onesie. Quincy created these characters and you can purchase his book, The Yoga Babies: 31 Days of Wisdom on Amazon. It was soooo good to see them and have some quality time, eating Lola's adobo and just laughing! Love my boys!
Me & Dee 1991 JFK High School grads!

18 Weeks
This week Nainoa has been waking up at 3 or 4 in the morning reciting Shakespeare. He wakes up and starts his monologue and I desperately try and sling him back to sleep. Last night it only took a half an hour, the other night it took Daddy an hour and a half. He's so much more vocal now a days. He loves to grab things. He's also fascinated with lights. Oh and if he's on his back and he wants to practice standing he will definitely let you know. He gets mad and starts screaming, but once he's standing he's all smiles. We've been practicing sitting up, but he just topples over. He can hold it for a bout a second. Still no roll over. I'm not worried though, I know he'll do it one of these days. Tomorrow Eye goes to Aruba for 4 days. We are going to miss him, especially when Nainoa starts talking story at 4 in the morning!
